Birthday celebration of Dr. Amanullah Ashru

unnamedThe birthday celebration of London living poet Amanullah Ashru was observed on 6th Februray in a colourful atmosphere. A huge number of followers and friends of the poet took part in the celebration and shared their joy together with the poet and his family members.

Poet Dr Amanullah Ashru was born in Rarri family of Noyanogor Gram in Gojaria Upozilla in Munshiganj on 6 February 1941. His father’s name was Abdul Auwal Rarri and mother Jamila Khatun. He started his education in Noyanogor Primary School and continued to Munshiganj High School and Harganga College and earned his BSc in Honours, MSc and LLB from Dhaka University. He was awarded DIIL and DALR degree in Karachi.

Later he studied in Birmingham and in Geneva. He earned his PHD degree in USA. He worked in different countries and finally worked as a consultant of United Nations.

He has been writing poetry since he was in school. His first book was published when he was a student in Dhaka University. He has published more than 500 books of which around 300 hundred was displayed in Dhaka and Kolkata boi-mela. He has also composed nearly five thousands songs. Most of them were produced as CD and VCD. He was awarded ‘Shahittya Acharya’ from Bangla Academy.
His wife Dr Ayesha Khatun passed away in 2012. His two sons, Ahsan and Asad, both are working in United States.

Poet Amanullah Ashru has established Aman Shahittya and Sangeet Academy in Dhaka and in Kolikata. He also established ‘Kabikunja’ in his birthplace Noyanagar. A series of events were organised in Munshiganj High School and in his villgage to celebrate poet’s 74th Birthday. There was cultural events, Milad Mahfil and charity events to observe this poet’s birthday.
