Nadeem Qadir joins press minister’s office in London

Eminent journalist Nadeem Qadir joined the office of the Press Minister of Bangladesh High Commission in the United Kingdom on Monday the 18th of may 2015

Government last year made Nadeem press minister for two years. But he could not join on time due to official complexities.

On the arrival of Nadeem in the morning local time, officials of the high commission warmly welcomed the new press minister there.

Expressing his reaction after joining the office, Nadeem told banglanews that he came there with a big responsibility, which is also a big challenge for him.

The new press minister also sought cooperation from people concerned in performing his duties there.
Mr. Qadir has been in the media for over three decades and spent most of his life working for the international media, including Agence France-Presse, Reader’s Digest magazine, TV South Asia and the Press Trust of India.

He has worked as a media consultant for different organisations.

Mr. Qadir is also the only Bangladeshi working journalist to have received the prestigious UNCA Dag Hammarskjold Memorial Scholarship in journalism.

He has six publications to his credit.

His father, Lt. Colonel M. Abdul Qadir, is one of country’s best known martyrs of the 1971 Independence War, while his mother Late Hasna Hena Qadir was one of the main founders of the Forum for Secular Bangladesh and Trial of 1971 War Criminals.

He likes to read, listen to music and travel.
