Project Shapla returns to Bangladesh

Conservative Friends of Bangladesh (CFOB) UK will this week lead a delegation of twenty three volunteers on a social action project in Bangladesh. The six-day mission, under the Project Shapla banner, will see the group working at a number of BRAC project sites in Dhaka as well as in Sylhet.

Led by Conservative MP for St Albans, Anne Main, the group will visit a number of projects working to improve the lives of local people between the 26 September and the 1 October.  Beginning with a visit to the BRAC Health Project in Biani Bazaar, the delegation will then go on to the BRAC Education Project in Sylhet before visiting the London Tigers Cricket Programme.

A press conference will be held on Sunday 27 September at 19:30 in Hotel Excelsior, Sylhet.

On Monday 28 September, Anne Main MP will lead a group to the BRAC Adolescent Development Project in Doldoli and the BRAC Health Nutrition & Population project in Sylhet while Paul Scully, MP for Sutton and Cheam, will lead a group on a project at a BRAC school, also in Sylhet.

On Tuesday 29 September, the group will meet with the President of Bangladesh, government minsters and the leader of the opposition in Dhaka.

On Wednesday 30 September, David Mackintosh, MP for Northampton South, will lead a group to the Leprosy Mission International project in Moakhali while Anne Main MP and Bob Blackman, MP for Harrow East, will lead a visit to the CLEFT project at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Project Shapla first went to Bangladesh with Conservative Party volunteers in September 2011.
