The grand finale of UK Khude Ganraj song competition 2014-15 has successfully taken place following its Bangladesh episodes. Channel i Europe organised the event on 8 November at Royal Regency in east London. The contestants were divided into group A and group B. 10-year-old and under-10 were put in group A and 11 to 16 year old contestants were put into group B. A short list of twenty contestants from both groups took part in the main competition following the launching of the competition across the UK back in February 2014.
Sharaf Raiyan became the champion in group A, while Tabassum Islam and Jahin Ayman Shah became second and third respectively. In group B, Jessica Sidratul became the champion, while Ananya Chowdhury Banna and Arpita Chowdhury Bristi became second and third respectively. Champion and the runner-up from both groups took part in the final round of Khude Ganraj 2014-15, where Tabassum Islam became the ultimate champion and Ananya Chowdhury Banna became runner up, while Jessica Sidratul became third.
Chief Judge of Khude Ganraj song competition was Ferdous Ara, who is a famous singer of Indian sub-continent and popular as a Nazrul Geeti artist. Popular Bangladeshi singer Polash, Rizia Parveen and Rizwanul Haque were the other judges in the event. Himangsu Guswami, Soiful Hussain and Kawsar Habibi were among other who were in the judges’ panel. The competition event was conducted by Radia Gulzan and Soumi Das conducted the prize giving episode.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Mr Mohammed Abdul Hannan distributed prize among the winners. Champion Tabassum Islam received 1000 pound in cash and a modern version of musical instrument harmaniam as prize. On the other hand, the runner up Ananya Chowdhury Banya received 750 pounds and a harmaniam, while the third position winner Jessica Sidratul received 500 pounds in cash and a harmaniam.
The chief patron of Khude Ganraj UK 2014-15 song competition and Managing Director of Channel I Europe, Mr Reza Ahmod Foysol Chowdhury Shoeb supervised the whole programme. Golam Mustafa and Shamsul Zaki Swapan were in charge of producing the programme.
Communications Director of Channel I Europe Doctor Anwara Ali said: “Channel I family have been working very hard from the very beginning to make this event successful and we think all our hard work proved fruitful.’’
Speaker of Tower Hamlets Council Abdul Mukit Chunu MBE, country manager of Biman Shafiqul Islam, president of UK Awami League Sultan Mahmud Sharif, press minister of Bangladesh High Commission Nadim Kadir, acting general secretary of UK Awami League Naim Uddin Riaz, joint secretary Anwarujjaman Chowdhury, proprietor of JMG Cargo Mr Monir Ahmod, proprietor of Hill Side Travels Helal Uddin Khan, Afsar Miah of UK Group, Jubair Ahmod Kibria were invited as special guests at the event.
