Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad on Sunday said, the Commission will sit tomorrow for a meeting and take the decision on the demands of political parties over the upcoming municipality elections.
Hours after the delegations of Awami League and BNP met him, the CEC told reporters,“We will sit tomorrow and decide.”
A delegation of the ruling Awami League had earlier met Rakibuddin and urged him to let MPs take part in the municipality election campaign.
After that members of BNP met the CEC and urged him to take measures so that MPs cannot take part in the municipality elections campaign. The delegation also asked the EC to defer the polls for at least 15 days.
On the other hand, Jatiya Party (JP) has demanded of Election Commission to defer municipality polls by 10 days.
