Square Hospitals fined Tk 2.65 lakh for irregularities

44A Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) mobile court on Wednesday fined Square Hospitals Ltd Tk 2.65 lakh for various irregularities.

A special team of Rab-2, led by Executive Magistrate Mohammad Helal Uddin, conducted a drive at the hospital at Panthapath around 12:30pm.

During the drive that continued for two hours, the mobile court team found that the hospital was operating its ICU, CCU, NICU, HDU and dialysis units without getting any licences.

It was also found that the hospital has a total of 365 beds against the approved 300 ones while the authorities did not renew licences for the hospital, its blood bank and lab for the last two years.

Besides, the hospital’s café was running without DNCC licence as well as cakes were being produced commercially at the café without BSTI’s approval.

Later, Executive Magistrate Helal Uddin fined six employees of the hospital Tk 2.65 lakh, in default, to suffer different terms of imprisonment from seven days to one month.

Deputy Director of Rab-2 Md Didarul Alam, Inspector of the Directorate General of Health Services Dr Md Shahjahan, Inspector of the Directorate General of Drug Administration Md Mahbub Hossain, BSTI field officer Shahidul Islam and Inspector of Dhaka North City Corporation Md Khalek Mozomder were present during the drive.
