BNP on Friday alleged that the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced to carry out a fresh investigation into the wealth of its senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman to ‘harass and malign’ him, reports UNB.
“The Fakhruddin-Moyeenuddin and Awami League governments had failed to find any proof about Tarique Rahman’s corruption and illegal wealth after their vigorous search at home and aboard,” said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
He further said, “The ACC has now announced to conduct a fresh probe into Tarique’s wealth at the behest of the government only to harass and carry out propaganda against him.”
The BNP leader came up with the remarks while addressing a press briefing at the district BNP office.
Rizvi alleged that the national anti-graft body is not taking any action against ministers, MPs and ruling party leaders though they are indulging in massive corruption. “It’s giving the corrupt persons clean chits.”
Accusing the ACC of hatching a conspiracy against BNP in the name of a fresh inquiry into its senior vice chairman’s wealth, he asked it not to make any mockery by doing so.
“The ACC is a deadly snake. Its one side has huge venom and another brazen clemency. It’s been biting many innocent BNP leaders through its venomous side as dictated by the government,” Rizvi observed.
The BNP leader warned that their party will be forced to take to the streets if the government does not refrain from such plot against Tarique.
