Residents organises emergency meeting to continue Ocean Street Warden Service

3Ocean Estate Tenants and Lease Holders Association has organised an emergence meeting not to cut the emergency warden budget which is used to safeguard the old and vulnerable residents.
The meeting was held in Enson House in Stepney Green on 27th January with the co-operation from Cllr Mahbub Alam and Chief of Stepney Salvation Army Ian Watkins.
Guests who addressed the audience included Chair of the organisation Brenda Bailey, former Deputy Mayor Councillor Oliur Rahman, Cllr Ansar Mostakim, Chair of St Dunstan Residents Forum Shafiqul Islam Shishu and others.
The senior citizens who attended the event said that the council has been providing this emergency warden service for last 45 year in relatively smaller budget. But currently it has become uncertain because of the funding.   The residents urged the Mayor of Tower Hamlets John Biggs to continue this service.  The speakers also said that in absence of warden service, old and sick people will suffer more or even they can be in danger of losing their lives.
Cllr Mahbub Alam and cllr Oliur Rahman promise assured the residents that they will work with Mayor John Biggs actively not to cut this service.
