North West London Bangla Academy celebrates International Mother Language

41North West London Bangla Academy celebrated the International Mother Language day by organising a discussion meeting as well as hand-writing and drawing competition for the kids. The event was held on the 22nd of February at a venue in Colindale with the presence of Barnet councillor Zakia Jubairi as the chief guest. Convenor of North West London Bangla Academy Shah S Huq presided over the event and advisor Khaled Saifullah Patwary conducted the programme. The member secretary of the organisation Mr. Ruhul Chowdhury delivered the key-note speech which was focused on the significance of language movement in the history of Bangladesh and the spirit that had led the Bengali nation to win the movement. Other speakers spoke on the significance of educating the new generation of British Bangladeshis about Bangla language. Mr. Jalal Ahmed Mr. Imran Ahmed, Mr. Junaid Chowdhury and some other speakers contributed as discussants. Competition winners Jubaida Siddique, Maryam Chowdhury and Risha Chowdhury were awarded with prizes at the end of the programme. The newly established organisation North West London Bangla Academy offers Bangla language course for children and teenagers.
