Saraswati Puja being celebrated in Sylhet

unnamed (3)Saraswati Puja, one of the main religious festivals of the Hindu community, is being celebrated in the Sylhet city today (Wednesday).

Every year, the puja is celebrated on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Magh as Goddess Saraswati was born on this day. The day is called ‘Vasant Panchami’.

As Saraswati is considered the goddess of wisdom and knowledge, Hindu devotees, especially students, celebrate the Saraswati Puja in different educational institutions and temples.

Traditionally, the students of Several Educational institution  celebrate the puja setting up 20-25 mandaps, which every year turn into the main attraction of the celebrations.

The puja is also arranged at SAU, SIU, SUST, Modon Muhon College, MC College and  Mirzajangal, Dariyapara, Ramkrishna Mission and temples in Bagbari areas of the Sylhet city.
