Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Bablu Rahman, a resident of Jhenaidah town, for his involvement in the bomb blast in the mosque of Navy’s Eishha Khan Ghat. He was arrested on Monday morning from the city’s Arapaput bus stand area. Bablu Rahman, son of Abdul Gaffar Sardar of Barikhali village of Tala upazila of Satkhira, was arrested.
RAB-6, Jinnaidaha camp’s company commander Major Monir Ahmed told the press briefing that on December 18, 2015, the militants launched a bomb attack in two mosques of the Isha Khan Ghat in Chittagong. In this 24 worshipers including Navy officers were injured. In this incident, a member of the Navy filed a case against the Anti-Terrorism and Explosive Act in the EPZ.
After the long investigation, on 15th of this month, the investigating officer Othman Gani submitted charge sheet to the court. The accused Mannan, Ramzan and Gaffar are in jail. The fugitive was Bablu and Sakhawat.
Babulor Rahman is a member of the new JMB Sarwar Tamim Group, said RAB official Munir Ahmed. He said that the accused militants in the case used to work as a canteen boy in Shaheed Moazzem Naval Base of Chittagong Naval Force.
There was a plan to attack the Shahid Moazzem Mosque in the first place. Later, they canceled the plan and attacked the mosque’s mosque. Bablu Rahman, arrested in primary interrogation, admitted these words. He came to Jhenaidah and went into hiding. When Babluar Rahman fled to North Bengal, RAB arrested him from Arappur bus stand area.
