Bangladesh Catering Association completed its selection process for its 19th November annual Restaurant of the Year award and gala dinner which took place on 24th of October at Canary Wharf. Ten best restaurants were selected for the final award.
The committee chief of selection process and Organising Secretary of BCA Mithu Chowdhury conducted the event where speakers Stephen McPartland MP, President Kamal Yakub, former President Pasha Khandokar and Bajlur Rashid MBE, Secretary General Oli Khan, Award and Dinner Committee Chief Fazal Uddin, Chief Treasurer Saidur Rahman Bipul, Managing Director of Canary Group Howard Dover, Associate Director Zakir Khan, former fast bowler Devon Malcolm and Marketing Director of Chef Online Aktaruzzaman addressed the audience on the problems that the curry industry are facing and how to come over from this crisis.
This year initially 40 restaurants were shortlisted. On 24th of October, 10 restaurants were selected for the main award ceremony.
At the event, Stephen Mcpartland MP, Zakir Khan, Chief Executive of Chef Online M A Monim Salek, Devon Malcolm and media presenter John Hooker acted as the adjudicator for the selection process.
The other members of the sub-committee are Senior Vice-president Mojahid Chowdhury, Vice-president Golam Rabbani, joint Treasurer Foyjul Haque, Co-organising Secretary Delwar Hossain, Shahidul Haque Chowdhury and Mujibur Rahman Tanu.
Other guests who attended the audience included founder of BBPower Abdal Ullah, President of Sunamganj District Welfare Associaition Iqbal Hossain, Senior Vice-president of BCA Jamal Uddin Mokuddus, Senior Vice-president Enamul Haque Chowdhury, Vice-president Syed Hasan Ahmed, Wahidul Haque Bulu, Deputy Secretary General Selim Malik, Mujibur Rahman Tanu and others.
Mojahid Ali Chowdhury addressed the audience expressing his gratitude towards everyone for attending the event.
Former President of BCA Pasha Khanadakar said that BCA have been lobbying with the ministers and high officials to find a solution for the remaining crisis in today’s curry industry. He called on the political leaders to come forward and help to save this billion pound industry.
