Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq, who had been undergoing treatment at a London hospital for neurological problem, passed away there on Thursday. He was 65.
He breathed his last at the hospital around 4:23pm local time, said his personal assistant Mizanur Rahman.
Annisul was put on life support on Monday as his condition deteriorated. Later, doctors found infection in his lungs.
Annisul was diagnosed with cerebral vasculitis at a London neurology hospital. The mayor got admitted to the hospital on August 13.
The DNCC Mayor was shifted from the intensive care unit of the hospital on October 31 to another hospital for physiotherapy.
Annisul flew to London in the last week of July for personal purpose.
