‘We worked for a nominal honorarium’

The film Putra, directed by Saiful Islam Mannu, hit as many as 100 theatres across the country on Friday.
Financed by the information ministry, the film’s main theme is autism.
Popular actor Ferdous, who plays a major role in this film, spoke to Prothom Alo about the movie and his other works.
How do you feel about the film based on a social issue getting released in the New Year?
I am very happy we are beginning the year with such a great venture. All of us worked in this film for a nominal honorarium.
Why did it take so long to be released?
The director of the film went to the United States after the shooting had been completed in 2015. It seemed that the film would never be released. Now the film is finally being released in association with Jaaz Multimedia. Hopefully, it will be a success.
Putra is being released in more than 100 theatres. How do you see this?
Generally, films financed by a government grant are not released in so many cinema halls. But the information ministry wanted to convey the message to the maximum number of viewers, so they decided to release it in as many theatres as possible. I think, this is a good sign for our film industry.
Tell us about your other projects slated for this year.
There are six more to be released this year. Three of them — Postmaster 71, Meghkanya and Pabitra Valobasa — are being shot while the shooting of the remaining three — Beauty Circus, Gantabya and Shunno Hridoy — have already been completed.
You have produced two of them. How about your own ventures?
We are working on a story. As always, I will work with a new director this time, too.
