There was a goal blitz at Strepney as Beanibazar and Chhattak played out a friendly game in aid of the Beanibazar Cancer Hospital.
Goyas Miah and Shiraz Miah bought the Greater Sylhet Upazila Cup champions to Stepney to play a Cancer benefit game against Emdad Rahman and Abdul Hamid’s young pretenders.
An evening of celebrations saw proceedings begin with an open friendly game made up of fans, players and officials with Chhattak romping home 4-0.
The big guns from both sides then took to the field and a mesmerising game saw Abdul Bari score 5 with Mufi Uddin, Ash Rahman and captain Abdul Wahid completing a 8-2 rout for Beanibazar.
Beanibazar Sporting Club President Mesba Ahmed was impressed with the proceedings. He said: “Despite the rainy weather and cold winds we had an impressive crowd at Stepney to support a great cause. I would like to extend my thanks to Goyas, Shiraz and Chhattak for not only playing an entertaining game but also supporting a great cause.”
Chhattak co manager Goyas Miah commented: “This is what our community is about. We are extremely proud to have played this game. The atmosphere was excellent and each player should be proud of their conduct and contributions.”
Beanibazar manager Emdad Rahman added: “I’m extremely pleased with the performances and commitment of everyone here today. During the game we were able to go the full circle and field a fifty year old alongside a 13 year old. I’d like to thank Chhattak for their fantastic support.”
M Shab Uddin, Managing Director and CEO of Beanibazar Cancer Hospital concluded: “Sport in general has a habit of uniting our communities. Beanibazar Cancer Hospital aims to create awareness and provide medical treatment for disadvantaged cancer patients in Bangladesh.
