PM provides Tk 90 lakh to late Kamal Uddin’s ailing children

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday gave financial assistance of Tk 90 lakh to two ailing sons and a daughter of late Kamal Uddin Ahmed, a hostile witness of the historic Agartala Conspiracy Case.

Qamrul Hasan Ahmed and Khairul Hasan Ahmed, sons of Kamal Uddin and his (Kamal) daughter Meher Nini Kamal received cheques for the amount from the the Prime Minister at her office  in the afternoon, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told reporters.

Senior officials of the PMO were present on the occasion.

Kamal Uddin, the first Naval Adviser of Bangladesh, became a victim of massive torture and suffered in jail during Ziaur Rahman’s rule. He later died after sustaining severe physical torture, the press secretary said.
