Ctg Test: Mominul hits century in 1st match against Sri Lanka
Tigers on 250/2* in 56 overs
Mominul Haque hit his 5th Test century during the 1st innings on day one of the 1st match of a two-match series against visiting Sri Lanka at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Wednesday.
Mominul, a genuine Test batsman of Bangladesh, did his job in the 2nd session with two successive boundaries off Lakshan Sandakan to reach 101 off 96 balls from run-a-ball 93, when he was sharing a partnership of 121* off 34 overs with Mushfiqur Rahim (44* off 88) in the 3rd wicket stand.
Mominul-Mushfiqur started from 120/2 in 27.4 overs, after the dismissal of Imrul Kayes, and were continuing for the Tigers 250/2* in 56 overs with 107* and 47* in the innings respectively.
Mominul played so far 26 matches, making his Test debut in March 2013 against Sri Lanka at Galle where he hammered a half century of 55 runs and the erstwhile Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim hit a double century of 200 runs in the 1st innings of a draw game.
Earlier, Bangladesh lost their two left-handed top order batsmen Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes before the lunch.
Imrul Kayes (40 off 75b; 4×4) was lbw by Lakshan Sandakan on 120/2 in 27.4 overs while dashing opener Tamim Iqbal was bowled out by Lankan spin all-rounder Dilruwan Perera on 72/1 in 15.5 overs.
Tamim hurried to hit a fifty of 52 off 53 to exit from the innings off six boundaries and one six for his 25th Test half century.
