Habiganj Correspondent : The investigation report, accusing three persons from Habiganj of committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971, has been submitted to the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Sunday (May 13).
The prosecution submitted the report to a three-member tribunal headed by ICT Chairman Justice Md Shahinur Islam.
The tribunal fixed June 4 to hear arguments regarding acceptability of the report.
Prosecutor Ziad Al-Mamun moved for the state, at the courtroom.
Earlier, on March 8, the report accusing the three persons was disclosed at a press briefing, held at the ICT’s investigation agency office in Dhanmondi.
The accused are—Golap Mia, 66, former joint general secretary of Nabiganj upazila unit Awami League also former chairman of Goznaipur union parishad under Habiganj, Md Jamal Uddin Ahammad alias Md Jamal Uddin, 65, a BNP supporter, and Sheikh Gias Uddin Ahmed, 70, a Jamaat supporter.
Of them, Golap was arrested on April 12 last year and Jamal was arrested on November 23 in the same year. Gias is reportedly hiding in London of United Kingdom.
The investigation launched on February 16 in 2016, said the press briefing.
In the report, charges of genocide, murder, abduction, detention, torture, looting, arson and rape were brought against the three.
Specifically, the report accused them of killing 17 persons, raping 6 women, torching 25 houses and torturing 30 persons after abduction.
