Acting Chairman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party Tarique Rahaman has urged every political party members to come together and disremember differences to save the country.
Speaking at an Iftar party in London, the BNP leader further said, “I would like to call upon all political parties and their leaders to create a national unity to protect democracy and people’s rights.”
He was addressing the audience at a pre-iftatar discussion meeting on Sunday in a Banqueting Hall in East London. The Iftar Mahfil and pre-ifter discussion meeting were presided over by President of UK BNP M A Malik and conducted by General Secretary M Koysor Ahmed. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was present at the event as Special Guest.
“No one is now safe in the country the way democracy and people’s rights have been snatched. Under the circumstance, if political parties can’t get united, the nation won’t forgive us,” he said.
The BNP leader further said, “I would like to call upon all political parties and their leaders to create a national unity to protect democracy and people’s rights.”
The next election will not be meaningful and acceptable if it is not held under a non-party government with the deployment of army, he said.
He also said that people can easily realise the situation of the country now. “Sheikh Hasina always says she wants to establish rights of vote and food. Which rice used to cost 15 taka per kilo, now who knows how much it is. Also, one can easily understand the situation of voting if someone just look at Khulna City Corporation election.” He said.
He also mentioned that “this illegal Prime Minister’s illegal Finance Minister told few days ago that there have been no price increase of anything in ten years. Has there been any price increase or not, we are leaving it to the public to decide.”
He emphasised that the situation of the country cannot continue. The country needs change in governing of the country and we will make that change taking the people with us.
