Canary Wharf felicitates London Bangla Press Club leaders

Leading financial city Canary Wharf honoured London Bangla Press Club (LBPC) on its 25th anniversary for its contribution to the community.  The Directors of Canary of told that Canary Wharf has been playing an important role for the growth of the local community.  LBPC is also playing a vital role in the community and hence all the stakeholders should work together for the betterment of the community.  The Directors also handed in crests to the President, General Secretary, Treasurer and other members of the club.

On his welcoming speech, Managing Director of Canary Wharf Group Howard Dawbar mentioned that he could not be a journalist even though he really wanted to and praised highly the Bengali media.  The other Director Mat Meyer said that they are very happy to honour London Bangla Press Club.

Associate Director of Canary Wharf Group Zakir Khan conducted the event.  President of LBPC Syed Nahash Pasha, Generel Secretary Muhamnmod Jubaer, Treasurer A S M Masum received crests from the Group.  Other members of the executive committee also received crests.

Howard Dawbar emphasised that Canary Wharf contributes around 40 billion pounds each year to the British Economy.  Around 150 companies have their head offices here and out of 120 employees, 12 thousands are from Tower Hamlets.

The event took place at the company board room on 30th floor of Canary Wharf building.  Associate Director Zakir Khan said that Canary Wharf has already contributed 15 million pounds in youth, sports and third sectors of Tower Hamlets.  He also emphasised that the Group is always trying to work towards the development of the community.  Honouring LBPC is part of that process as Press Club is working tirelessly for the empowerment of the community.

President of LBPC Syed Nahash Pasha said that it is a matter of high hope that Canary Wharf is emphasising on youth employment. He also said he expects more local young people would have their employment here.

General Secretary Muhammod Jubaer mentioned that the important thing is Canary Wharf is putting the community  at its heart.  They are highlighting British Bangladeshis as the wider community and honouring Press Club is similar as honouring Bengali media.

Leaders of Londdon Bangla Press Club, senior media professionals and executive members of the club were present at the event and took part in the dinner.  Other guests who addressed the audience included former President Muhib Chowdhury and former General Secretaries Nazrul Islam Bashon and Abdus Sattar.
