Bangladesh will play the Pool B 2nd slot holders Scotland in the 2nd semifinal at the same venue on Thursday (July 12). 

In the day’s game Bangladesh chased a tiny target of 40 for 2 in 6.5 overs after restricting UAE on 39 for all in 16.2 overs.


Nigar Sultana [21* off 22b; 3×4] played an unbeaten innings while Sanjida Islam [15 off 9b; 3×4] was another double digit scorers for Bangladesh.


Nisha Ali (1/7) got Sanjida, was caught by Chamani Seneviratna, on 37/2 in 6.2 overs after Subha Srinivasan (1/12) making the 1st breakthrough dismissing opener Ayasha Rahman, who was caught by Roopa Nagraj, on 13/1 in 3.2 overs. 

Sent in to bat first, UAE batters stunned by player of the match spinner Fahima Khatun wicket haul of four-for eight. Opener Esha Oza [18 off 35b; 1×4] was the only double digit scorers for UAE.


With her four-for, Fahima completed a hat-trick and has become the 1st Bangladesh bowler and the 8th bowler among women’s T20I playing nations to achieve the feat.


Nahida Akter (2/2) and Rumana Ahmed (2/4) equally shared four wickets for Bangladesh.


Bangladesh maintained top slot of their Pool with all-win six points from three games. They started the Pool campaign crushing Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the Netherlands by eight wickets and by seven wickets respectively.


However, the two finalists of the qualifiers event will join Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and hosts West Indies in the Women’s World T20 scheduled to be staged from November 9-25.


In the 1st semifinal, Pool ‘B’ leader Ireland will play against the Pool ‘A’ 2nd slot holder PNG on July 12.
