Jatiya Oikyafront denied of permission for rally in Sylhet

Sylhet Office : Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) today denied Jatiya Oikyafront of permission for holding a rally in the city on October 23 on security ground.

“Permission for the rally was not granted on security ground,” Selim Miah, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station  this afternoon.

The police official, however, did not clarify the matter.

Yesterday, a five-member team of Sylhet unit BNP, a component of the newly formed alliance, met SMP Commissioner Golam Kibria and submitted an application seeking permission for the rally in Bandarbazar area of the city.

“Police did not show any specific reason about its denial of permission to hold the rally,” Ali Ahmed, general secretary of Sylhet district unit of BNP, told reporters this afternoon.  He also said that he would talk to his central leaders in this regard.
