London Enterprise Academy pupils take part in charity 5K

Whilst most school children are tucking into their well earned midday lunches a group of year 10 pupils from the London Enterprise Academy in Whitechapel joined volunteers from the UK charity Human Relief Foundation to raise awareness of issues affecting young people and school children whose lives are affected by poverty.

The children joined locals Abdal Ahmed and Emdad Rahman on a 5K walk starting from Whitechapel and taking in Tower Bridge, City Hall, HMS Belfast, London Bridge and the Tower of London.

The idea behind the walk was to highlight the efforts school children go to in order to access education in developing countries.

Abdal and Emdad are travelling to Bangladesh on Saturday where they will be using the aid raised to support those in need. Activities will include working at the Rohingya Camp in Cox Bazar, football coaching, teaching in schools and distributing aid to the needy.

Khoyrul Shaheed from Human Relief Foundation said, “Team HRF Bangladesh have carried out tremendous outreach work to highlight the need to support such vulnerable people. We are grateful to the London Enterprise Academy for their amazing support.

London Enterprise Academy head teacher Ashid Ali commented, “We are a school with a clear vision of producing amazing humans who not only excel in their academic studies but also carry out fabulous outreach intended to enhance the lives of their fellow humans and make the world a better place. I’m really proud that my students have responded so positively to such a worthy cause and we wish Abdal, Emdad and the team great success on their half term aid mission.”
