Introductory session for visiting UK press & media delegation


An Introductory session was held at Dhaka Radisson for visiting press & media team from the UK on 20 December at Dhaka Radisson hosted by Dhaka Tribune.
Dhaka Tribune’s publisher Dr Anis Ahmed welcomed the UK team and said this was informal get together to get to know the delegates and local guests. Ansar Ahmed Ullah from the UK introduced the UK team and welcomed discussion based on their objective of visiting Bangladesh.
Ansar Ahmed Ullah said the UK team has come to Bangladesh to attend ‘Media Dialogue with Bangladesh Press’ aimed at engaging and interacting between the UK based press & media activists and leading Bangladeshi media houses prior to the run up to general elections scheduled on 30 December 2018. At the hosted dinner the delegates and guests discussed the overall political scenario in Bangladesh and other specific topics such as Islamist terrorism and the plight of Rohingya refugees.


The UK team comprised of journalist Ansar Ahmed Ullah, Duncan Bartlett, Editor, Asian Affairs Magazine, Farhan Masud Khan, Head of Programmes, Channel S TV, Kois Miah, Photojournalist, Matiar Chowdhury, NNB correspondent, Writer Sebastian Dunn and Syed Anas Pasha, Editor-in-chief while local guests included Md Omar Faruque, Deputy Chief News Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (National News Agency), Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Editor of Bangladesh News, Gen Md Abdur Rashid of Institute of Conflict Law Development Studies,  Somoy TV’s CEO Ahmed Jobaer, Ekattor TV’s Director Mozammel Haque, Farhana Lupa, Mithila Farzana and Sharim Tasnim of Dhaka Tribune.
