Land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury on Saturday ordered all officials of land ministry to submit their wealth statements by February 28.
“All staff and officials of land offices from union parishad to the Land Ministry must have to submit their wealth statements by this timeframe,” he said in a view exchange with journalists at Bangabandhu Hall of Chattogram Press Club.
Saifuzzaman said that the government is going to bring all land officials including thana and upazila land offices under CCTV surveillance.
He said all the officers will be monitored electronically and there will be voice recording system to end all sorts of corruption.
Once upon a time land ministry was dumping station of corrupt and inefficient officials, in reality it is a very important ministry, he said.
Saifuzzaman said harassment of people still exists in land offices but citizens will get the desired services from the ministry gradually as field-level land offices will be brought under automation.
Chattogram Press Club president Kalim Sarwar, general secretary Suklal Das, Chattogram Union of Journalist president Nazimuddin Shyamol and general secretary Hasan Ferdous, among others, were also present at the meeting.
