The readymade garment (RMG) workers have continued their protest on Monday rejecting the latest revised pay structure introduced on Sunday.
Thousands of workers from at least 10 factories have continued their protest on Dhaka-Tangail highway since 9:00am this morning.
However, industrial police had removed them from the road during initial attempts.
The agitated workers were seen chanting slogans on the street rejecting the revised pay structure. They were saying that their basic salary was not raised as expected.
Earlier on Sunday, the government has introduced a revised pay structure for the garment workers giving a raise between Tk 15 to Tk 786.
The workers have been protesting for almost one and half months demanding the removal of the disparity in their pay structure.
Sunday’s revision was the raise from the new wage board put into effect from December 2018.
Meanwhile, garment factory owners have threatened the workers to shut down the factories if they do not return to work from today (Monday).
