BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to Singapore to get medical treatment on Monday.
Fakhrul along with his wife Rahat Ara Begum left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Singapore in a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines around 6pm, said BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir.
Fakhrul has problems in his internal carotid artery. He will receive treatment at the National University Hospital in Singapore.
Sayrul, however, could not say when the BNP secretary general will return home.
In 2015, the Supreme Court granted him bail for treatment abroad for the same problems when he was in jail.
He went to Singapore for medical check-up for the last time in July last year.
