Six dead, five hurt in Barishal road crash

Six people were killed and five others injured as a bus rammed a human hauler on Barishal-Banaripara road at Tetultala area in Barishal city on Friday morning.

Five of the deceased have been identified as Shila Haldar, 24, a Masters student of Barishal BM College, Manik Shikdar, 40, Khokon, 35, Sohel 25 and Parvin, 35 of Babuganj upazila.

Barishal Fire Service and Civil Defense station officer Yunus Ali said the accident took place around 9:30 am when the Barishal-bound Durjoy Paribahan bus hit a human hauler, leaving Shila dead on the spot and ten others injured.

The injured were rushed to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared five others dead.

Barishal Metropolitan Airport police Station officer-in-charge Abdur Rahman Mukul said traffic movement on the highway remained suspended for half an hour due to the road accident.
