Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said that the government is focusing on building a secure and prosperous life for the children.
“Today’s children are the leaders of the future. We will have to nurture them in a way so that they can serve the country patriotism and love,” the PM opined while attending a rally of children and juveniles at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on the 49th Independence and National Day.
Pointing towards the recent initiatives taken by the government, she told that the government has launched satellite Bangabandhu-1 and introduced multimedia classrooms across the country while other services including free textbooks and stipends for students are going on in full form.
“We’ve started various types of competitions across the country so that the students can able to flourish their talents,” she said.
Hasina also motivated the children to step up for the need of the country as she said, “You’ve to take the country forward and build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh. It was the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”
The PM also urged parents, guardians, teachers and religious clerics to save the children from the menaces like of drugs, terrorism, and militancy.
Hasina, then, suggested the children focus on study, sports, cultural activities, and competitions. “Only education is not enough,” she said emphasized on maintaining good health as well.
The Dhaka district administration organised the rally where Deputy Commissioner Abu Saleh Mohammed Ferdous Khan gave the vote of thanks.
The Prime Minister inaugurated the rally by releasing pigeons and balloons and also distributed prizes among the winners of the competition of singing the national anthem.
To mark the occasion, the galleries of Bangabandhu National Stadium was decorated with portraits of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, four national leaders, Bir Shresthas, photographs of the prime minister and natural beauties of Bangladesh.
