Sylhet Office : An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League was hacked to death when two factions clashed over establishing supremacy in Tilagor area of Sylhet on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Ovishek Dey, an activist of MC College BCL unit.
Sub-inspector Omar Faruque, in-charge of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College police outpost, confirmed this to media on Thursday night.
Two factions of BCL men locked into a clash in Tilagor area at around 10:30 pm, leaving Ovishek seriously wounded as he was hacked during the clash.
Later, the victim was rushed to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital, where the duty doctors declared him dead, the SI said.
Victim Ovishek is also a follower of Ranajit Sarkar, youth and sports affairs secretary of Sylhet district unit of Awami League.
