Nafees Iqbal joins restaurant business with ‘Dum Phoonk’

72Several cricketers in the past have ventured into the restaurant business. The long list includes some famous names like Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara. As far as the Bangladesh cricketers are concerned, former national captain Mohammad Ashraful, former national paceman Talha Jubair and a few others are running successful restaurant businesses.
The latest to join the lot is former national opener Nafees Iqbal.
Alongside four business partners, the right-handed batsman launched “Dum Phoonk” in Chittagong last Tuesday. Nafees informed Dhaka Tribune yesterday that his restaurant, located in Ispahani Circle,
offers both Bangladesh and Indian cuisines. The “Chittagong Platter” is a special item which serves traditional Mezban beef with Basmati rice.
“We have undertaken the best possible measures to ensure the best quality food to our guests. So, I should inform that the food comes a little late. However, I believe the ambience and the hospitality will make one unmindful of the time,” said Nafees.
When queried if he is choosing business over cricket, Nafees said, “Cricket will always be my first priority. It does not matter if I open three more restaurants.”
