Sylhet train communication resumed after 7 hours

35After seven hours of being suspended, the rail connection of Sylhet with Dhaka and Chittagong has been restored on Wednesday.
It was suspended for seven hours as at least 35 trees fell on the railtracks during a nor’wester in Mouluvibazar. The storm occurred early on Wednesday.
The trees, uprooted by the storm, fell onto the rail tracks at Magurchhara and Lawachhara forest area under Kamalganj upazila of the district.
Sylhet Railway Station Manager Abdur Razzak said “Lashing by Nor’wester, trees fell onto the rail lines at different points of Sylhet-Dhaka and Sylhet-Chittagong rail lines. As a result rail links remained halted since 2:00am, causing immense sufferings to hundreds of passengers.”
The rail communications were restored around 9:00am after removal of the trees from rail tracks, he added.
