Police recovered bodies of two sisters from a pond of Bhatera Union in Kulaura Upazila of the district early Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Sakhina Begum, 18, and Arija Begum, 19, daughters of Akbar Ali of Adampur Union of Kamalganj Upazila.
Locals said Sakhina and Arija worked at one Joynal Mia as housemaid Bhabanipur village of Kulaura Upazila. They went missing from Tuesday afternoon. After a good search, residents of house found the two bodies floating in the pond near by the house early Wednesday.
Being informed, police rushed in and sent the bodies to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, said Assistant Sub-Inspector of Kulaura Thana Abdul Ahad.
Police suspect that the duo did know how to swim. So, they drowned in the pond.
