Nat’l programming contest for Sylhet students held

8The ‘National High School Programming Contest-2015’ for the students of Sylhet region was held on Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) campus yesterday. This is a part of the selection round of the contest for the students of Sylhet region. For the first time in the country, the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICT) has organised the programme targeting high school students across the country with an aim to enrich their programming knowledge.

Popular writer and head of Electrical and Electronic Engineering department Professor Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal inaugurated the programme at 8am at in front of Academic Building ‘A’ on the campus. The contest was held in two categories—programming and quiz competitions. Students from junior section (class VI to IX) and senior sections (X to XII and polytechnic 4th semester) took part in the competition. The quiz competitions began at 9am on the day and continued for half an hour, following the programming contest.
A total of 108 students were selected for the quiz competition and 20 students for programming contest which are scheduled to be held on June 02 at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. The prize giving ceremony was held at Central Auditorium yesterday evening while Vice-Chancellor of SUST Elias Uddin Biswas and Professor of Physics department Yasmeen Haque, addressed the programme, among others. SUST’s ‘CSE Society’, ‘Bigganer Jonno Valobasha’, ‘Science Arena’ and ‘CAM SUST’ were the host partners of the contest.
