Valuables looted from a house in Sunamganj

1Robbers looted cash money and valuables, worth Tk 10 lakh from the house of an expatriate in Kazihata area of Chatak upazila of the district on Thursday night.
Local people said, a group of robbers, numbering 8-10, stormed into the house of Layek Ahmed, 35, a Soudi expatriate, by breaking the front door of the house and tied up the inmates at gunpoint.
Three people, including Layek Ahmed, his wife Runa Begum, 22, and her younger sister Khaleda were seriously injured when they tried to resist the robbers.
Later, the robbers looted cash money and valuables, including 12 ‘bhori’ gold and four mobile phone handsets, worth Tk 10 lakhs from the house.
Among the injured, Layek Ahmed was taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital while his wife and her sister received treatment at a local hospital.
Meanwhile, police in a drive arrested three suspected robbers from Noagaon in Kazihata in connection with the incident.
The arrested were identified as Sadik Ali, 35, son of Akram Ali, Husen Mia, 32, son of Nurul Haque, and Toiyabur Rahman, 25, son of Rois Ali.
