Prosecution brings 4 charges against Habiganj Razakar trio

1The prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 today submitted formal charge against Habiganj Razakar trio Mohibur Rahman alias Boro Miah, his younger brother Mozibur Rahman alias Angur Miah and their cousin Abdur Razzak for their alleged crimes against humanity committed in 1971.
Prosecutors Sultan Mahmud Simon and Tapos Kanti Baul submitted the formal charge against the trio, bringing four charges of crimes against humanity.
The ICT-2 set May 25 for holding hearing on whether to take the charges into cognizance or not.
The second tribunal on April 30 set today for submitting formal charge against the first two. But prosecution said the investigation agency in their probe found credible evidence against Razzak for being involved in the crimes with his cousins, hence added his name as an accused.
The tribunal also issued arrest warrant against Razzak.
The trio is accused of raising a gang of Razakars in Baniachang upazila in Habiganj and establishing a camp in the locality. They raided the houses of Freedom Fighters and pro-liberation people, carried out monstrous crimes like killing, raping, looting valuables and arson.
Mohibur, former chairman of Khagaura union parishad under Baniachong upazila of Habiganj, and Mozibur, the incumbent chairman of the same union, were arrested on February 10, 2015, soon after the tribunal issued arrest warrant against them.
