Ibrahim murder in Sylhet : First wife confesses to murder

66Fateha Mashruka, wife of slain Ibrahim Abu Khalil, made statement before a court here on Tuesday reportedly confessing to her involvement in the killing of her husband, police sources said.
Magistrate Mohammad Sahedul Karim of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court recorded the statement of detained Fateha under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station Sohel Ahmed said that Fateha confessed before the court that she killed her husband also a Tablig Jamaat leader, following a family feud over his multiple marriages.
In her statement, Fateha also said Ibrahim had two other wives one of them lives in Dinajpur and another in Moulvibazar.
The OC said that Fateha said before court that they went to sleep in separate rooms that night but she went to his husband’s room and hit her sleeping husband on the head with an iron rod. When he tried to struggle, she stabbed him thrice. Then she tied him up and slaughtered with the knife.
On Monday morning, police recovered the slaughtered body from his house in Chardighipar area of the city. Police detained Ibrahim’s first wife and son for interrogation.
