Non-resident Bangladeshis will feel honoured if Bangladesh government declares one day of the year as NRB day. Bangladesh’s permanent representative to the UN Dr A K Abdul Momen told this in a meeting held in a networking dinner organised by Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BBCCI) on 24 May. He also pledged that he would lobby this to Bangladesh government as this demand is righteous.
He also said that non-resident Bangladeshis are playing an important role in the economy of Bangladesh by sending their hard-earned revenue. He emphasised that Bangladesh government has already showing the sign of goodwill by honouring and giving citizenship to ‘foreign freinds’ for their contribution in liberation war.
In the end, Dr Momen said that by organising dialogue and regional co-operation, Rohynga crisis can be resolved. BBCC London’s Regional President Bashir Ahmed gave the welcoming speech. Guests who also addressed the audience included BBCC Director General Mohib Chowdhury, Director and Advisor Enam Ali Mbe, Director and former President Mukim Ahmed, Senior Advisor and former President Shahgir Bhakth Faruk, Acting President M M Noor, Direcotor Shafiqul Islam, Director Monir Ahmed, former Director General Absar M Woyaes, Chairman of NRB Centre Shakil Chowdhury, Syed Shajidur Rahman Faruk, Sabrina Hossain and Director Momtaj Khan.
