Sylhet pass rate 81.82%

1The average pass rate in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examination under Sylhet Intermediate and Secondary Education Board is 81.82% while it was 89.23 last year.
The pass rate dropped this year due to political turmoil during the examination period as well as the creative method at Math subject, said board officials.
A total of 2,452 students secured the maximum grade point GPA-5 in this examinations while 3,341 students got GPA-5 last year.
Mohammed Abdul mannan khan, Controller of Examinations of Sylhet Intermediate and Secondary Education Board, formally announced the result at the board office’s auditorium in city’s Alampur area at 11am Saturday.
At the press briefing, Mohammed mannan khan, said the pass rate saw a sharp decline this year due to creative method at the Math and Higher Math subjects.
“In addition, the months-long nonstop political turmoil also had disrupted the concentration of the examinees, causing the poor performance.”
Out of 72,024 examinees, 58,932 students have successfully come out in the examinations.
The result of SSC and equivalent examinations was published across the country on Saturday morning with 87.04% pass rate.
This year, a total of 1,479,256 students from 27,808 institutions across the country under the 10 educational boards took the examination.
