Holy Shab-e-Barat observed in Sylhet city

12The holy Shab-e-Barat, the Muslims consider as ” the night of fortune” was observed in Sylhet Cityh as elsewhere in the country with due religious fervor and solemnity.
The Muslims in Sylhet city and its adjacent district spent sleepless night at mosques and homes, offering prayers, reciting from the holy Quran and seeking divine blessings for long life, peace, progress and happiness for themselves, their families, relatives and friends as well as the nation and the Muslim Ummah.
Muslim devotees also spent the whole night at mosques and shrines of Muslim saints offered prayers, zikir, milad mahfils and participated in discussions on the importance of the day.
Huge Muslim devotees were seen visiting the mazars of famous saints here like the mazars of Hajrat Shah jalal( R), Hajrat Shah  Poran (R) and Hajrat Burhanuddin ( R).
The devotees distributed food items and sweets among the neighbors and the poor. Many devotees observed fasting throughout the day today on the occasion of holy Shab-e-Barat.
The Muslims consider Shab-e-Barat as one of the three most sacred nights and believe that on this night Almighty Allah writes the fate of all human beings fixing their ‘rizq’ (livelihood) for the coming year.
Like every year, large numbers of Musallis offered their prayers and participated in other religious rituals on this occasion staying whole night at port city’s famous mosques – Dargha Mosque, Bondor Shahi Jame Mosque and Kudrotullah Mosque.
The people observed the day with ease and comfort as the authorities took adequate security steps in and outside important mazars and mosques.
