3 killed by lightning strikes in Sunamganj, Sylhet

32Three people, including two children, were killed in separate incidents of lightning strike in Sunamganj and Sylhet on Saturday.
In Sunamganj, two children were killed by a lightning strike in Sunamganj municipality area and Dharmapasha upazila on Saturday evening.
The deceased were identified as Afjal Miah,12, a class VI student of JoynagarBazarHajiganiBoxHigh School and son of Ayub Ali, a resident of Rupabali village in Jamalganj upazila, and Fulmati Begum,8, a resident of Tepikona village in Dharmapasha upazila.
Witnesses said a streak of thunderbolt struck Afjal in Dhopakhali area of Sunamganj municipality at about 7:30 pm while he was visiting his relative’s house in the area, leaving him dead on the spot.
Fulmati was killed when a thunderbolt struck her while she was playing at the courtyard of her house in the same time.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Gazi Shakhawat Hossain confirmed the incidents.
In Sylhet, a streak of thunderbolt struck Azam Ali,50, son of Haris Ullah, a resident of Noagaon village in Osmaninagar upazila at about 3:30 pm while working in a field, leaving him seriously injured.
Later, he was rushed to SylhetOsmaniMedicalCollegeHospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
