Najrul’s 116th birthday celebration

11 Jaishto was the 116^th birthday of national poet Qazi Najrul Islam’s 116^th birthday. To mark this great day with respect and honour, Najrul Parishod organised and event, ‘Shrishty Shukher Ullashe’, on 30^th May at Brady Centre in East London.

The event was sponsored by Alam & Company Accountants and Auditors.

Artist Sarwar E Alom conducted the whole event where a presentation was displayed on the life of Kazi Najrul.

Special guests at the event included Shirin Akhtar, Second Secretary, Bangladesh High Commission in London; Dr Nurul Alam; Cllr Rahima Rahman, Shafiul Alam, Faruque Ahmed, Abdul Karim Gani, Anwar Hossain Majumdar and other noted persons from the community.

 Artist who performed at the event included Gouri Chowdhury, Himangshu Goshwami, Alaur Rahman, Sarwar E Alam, Tarana Rouf Kanta, Borna Bhowmik, Mostofa Kamal Milon, Sadia Afroj Chowdhury, Shunoyon Chowdhury, Farjana Shifat Shopna, Mohamaya Shil, Shanjay Day.

Adithi Roy and Tal Taranga performed dance based on Poet’s script.

There were also poetry recital by Golam Kabir, Urmee Majhaar, Shumona Bhattacharya and others.

Udichi School of Performing Arts and Rabika also performed in the event.

The event was presented by Shomor Shaha and Tanzeelal Nur E Siddiqi. Ustad Yousuf Ali Khan, Abu Imran Tanmoy, Jotsna Shrikanta performed with their instruments.

Technical assistance was provided by Golam Mostofa, Shamsur Rahman Nikel, Sajia Afreen Chowdhury,. Golam Mostofa, Rajib Hasan, Anwar Hossain, Talat Mahmood Guddu, Kader Kamran Karim, Shona Miah and Golam Mostofa.

Sadia Afroj Chowdhury expressed her gratitude to all who attended the event and provide assistance.
