5 killed in road accident in Habiganj

28Five people, including four of a family, were killed as a private car and a truck collided head-on on Dhaka-Hylhet highway in Nabiganj upazila early Monday.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Hamid, 65, a resident of Mohammadpur village in Jaflong area of Goainghat upazila, his wife Kulsuma Begum, 55, their son Abdul Kadir, 33, daughter Sharmin Akhter, 22, and driver Shah Alam, 32, a resident of Jointapur area.

Officials of Sherpur Highway Police said the accident took place as the Sylhet-bound private car from Narsingdi collided head-on with a truck coming from opposite direction at Sadarghat Notunbazar in Nabiganj upazila around 5:30am, leaving five of the passengers dead on the spot.
Sherpur Police Station officer-in-charge Nurunnabi Sarker said the bodies of the deceased were sent to Hobiganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
