Four jailed for drug peddling in Sylhet

18A mobile court here on Sunday sentenced four people to six months imprisonment each for their involvement in drug peddling.
The convicts were identified as Khorshed Alam, 40, son of Sundar Ali, Selim Uddin, 32, son of late Mahabbat Ali, Abdul Barek, 25, son of late Siddik Ali, and Danis Miah, 28, son of late Kitab Ali, all residents of Lakma village in Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj district.
Police said on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the village in the afternoon and arrested the four while they were selling drugs. Later, they were produced before a mobile court of Executive Magistrate Iqbal Hossain who handed down the punishment.
Officer-in-charge of Tahirpur Police Station Shahidullah confirmed the incident.
