Fake stamps worth Tk180m seized in city

28Police have recovered fake stamps, including judicial, non-judicial and revenue stamps, worth about Tk180 million (Tk18 crore) and arrested a man in this connection from Lalkuthi Darus Salam thana area in the city. Being tipped off, a special team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), led by ASP Ruhul Amin, conducted two separate drives in two houses of Darus Salam area and recovered the fake stamps. The CID team raided a house at Lalkuthi in the early hours of Friday and recovered fake stamps worth about Tk 17.55 crore. They also arrested Bubul for selling the fake stamps, he said. The team conducted another drive in another house in the same area at about 7:30 am on Friday and recovered fake stamps worth about Tk2.685  million (26.85 lakh). “We are trying to arrest Shourav, the brother of Bubul, for his involvement in the illegal business, ASP Ruhul Amin said, according to a news agency.
