Kidnapped boy rescued in Sylhet; one held

34A minor boy, who had been kidnapped allegedly by their driver on Friday morning, was rescued from Sherpur area in Moulvibazar district in the afternoon the same day.
The rescued boy was identified as Sakib, 5, son of Emran Ahmed of Kayostho village in Gopalganj upazila.
AKM Fazlul Haque Shiblee, officer-in-charge of Gopalganj Police Station, said Rony Shikdar, driver of Emran and son of Afil Uddin of Faridpur district, had taken Sakib into his vehicle in a bid to go to Dhaka for handing him over to kidnappers.
When the vehicle reached Sherpur, the boy started crying.
At one stage, Rony stopped the car there for taking gas.
Suspecting the movement of Rony, local people caught him and handed him over to police.
After interrogation, Rony confessed that he had a deal to reach the boy to a syndicate in exchange of money and to make the plan a success, he took the job of driver at the house of Emran three months back.
Police are investigating the matter to find out the kidnappers, said the OC.
