Sylhet Tailors busy ahead of Eid

34With Eid al Fitr hardly Two Weeks away, tailoring shops in the Sylhet District  are having a robust business. Throughout the month of Ramadhan, tailors remained busy like bees most of the time, enjoying brisk business in every small and large scale market and the people are also keen to get their suits sewn for the Eid al Fitr.
Ladies tailoring shops and beauty salons are also doing brisk business as the ladies queue up for their henna preparations.
“The last week of Ramadhan is the busiest for tailors”, Muhammad Ahmad Ali, who heads a Tailoring Shop in Madubon, remarked while sorting out a piece of cloth meant for sewing in his shop.
Not only Ahmed but almost all tailors in the Sylhet  city are having a deluge of orders pouring in same frequency equally from male and female irrespective of age, as Eid al Fitr approaches nearer. All the tailors are overburdened with Eid orders.
“This month is a prime time for business”, says Ahmed. Tailors get overloaded with work at this time, and they make hefty profits.
In fact, all over Sylhet tailors are having hectic days as orders pour in ahead of the Eid al Fitr.
Though some tailors have already stopped taking new orders for Eid, people are still seen gathering at tailors and fabrics shops to order dresses for their Eid celebrations.
The huge surge in the availability of readymade garments has not dented the demand for tailored garments. For good fitting, people approach tailors even if they buy stitched dresses from boutiques. Shopping for their Eid clothes is a common feature among all Muslims. All tailoring shops, children’s or women’s garment, are busy almost round the clock.
Parents are particularly enthusiastic to get new clothes for their grown up girls and boys who began fasting this year for the first time and successfully adopted fasting as a way of life.
