50 hurt in Sylhet villagers’ clash

22At least 50 people, including women, were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over collecting medicine from upazila health complex in Bishwanath upazila in the district on Saturday afternoon.
Sources concerned said Hafsa Begum and two other women of Ramapasha village locked into an argument with one Shanur Ali of Kadirpur village at Upazila Health Complex at Kadirpur around 12:00pm over collecting medicine from the complex.
Hearing the news, people from both the villages equipped with lethal weapons and brickbats attacked each other, leaving at least 50 people injured. On information, police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control around 3:00pm.
The injured were taken to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital soon after the incident for treatment. Officer-in-Charge of Bishwanath Police Station Rafiqul Hossain said adequate police forces were deployed at the villages to avoid further clash.
