Accused in torturing Sylhet teenager arrested in KSA

25Quamrul Islam, a key accused in the killing of Sylhet teenager Samiul Alam Rajan, was arrested in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on Monday.
Bangladeshi ambassador to Saudi Arabia Golam Moshi confirmed the news.
On Sunday night, Quamrul fled the country through Sylhet Osmani International Airport when the video footage of torturing the teenager to death that went viral on different social media triggered a wave of protests across the country.
Samiul Alam Rajan, a vegetable vendor in the Bade Ali village near Kumargaon bus-stop in Sylhet, was tortured to death for alleged theft on 8 July. The killers later tried to dump his body, but the locals caught them red handed. Muhith, one of the tormentors, was held by the locals, while the others managed to flee the scene.
The police later detained Muhith and was placed on a five-day remand over his involvement in torture and killing of 13-year-old Samiul.
The police filed a murder case against Muhith, his brother Quamrul Islam, 24, his assistant Ali Haidar alias Ali, 34, and guard Moina Mian alias Boro Moina, 45, in connection with the killing of Samiul.
Early in the morning on Monday, the police arrested another accused, Ismail Hossain Abul, 32, cousin of prime accused Muhit Alam, from Lamakaji Mirergaon area under Jalalabad police station in Sylhet in connection with the murder of teenager.
