Rajon murder: Probe body submits 424-page report

49The three-member Probe body, which was formed to to investigate the brutal killing of 13-year-old boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, has submitted a 424-page report.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahmat Ullah told, “The 424-page probe report was placed at the received Desk of the office of the district commissioner around 11:30pm Thursday.”
However, he did not disclosed further details in this regard.
Later, the contacted the probe committee chief Additional Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police SM Rokonuddin for his comment over the matter.
But the police official also denied to make any comment on the issue adding that the probe body made the report on the basis of mobile phone call lists of the criminals.
Earlier on July 14, the committee was formed following an allegation made by Rajon’s father, also the plaintiff of the case, that two officials of Jalalabad police station took bribes to help one of the suspects – Kamrul Islam – to flee to Saudi Arabia.
The committee was asked to submit the report within July 17. However, later, it got five more days to place the report.
The ill-fated teenager was tortured to death by a group of persons at Kumargaon on the outskirts of Sylhet city around 7:30am on July 8.
The criminals also recorded a video during the torture and posted it on Facebook.
The 28-minute video, recorded on a mobile phone camera, shows the victim tied to a pole in front of a workshop in the still-closed Sultan Ali Market, beside the Dhaka-Sunamganj road.
From the video, it seemed there were five to six men who took part in the barbaric torture.
A murder case was filed in this regard by Jalalabad police, in which Rajan’s father later became a plaintiff.
One Muhit was held while dumping Rajon’s body on the day of the murder.
He was listed as the prime accused in the case, while his brother Kamrul Islam, 24, their accomplice Ali Haider, 34, and guard Moyna Miah, 45, were charged with murder as well.
Later, Muhit’s cousin Ismail Hossain Abullus and Guard Moyna Mia were held while absconding accused Kamrul Islam was held in Jeddah of Saudi Arabia.
In the latest development, some of the killers have given confessional statements.
On Thursday, the law minister has said the killers would be tried in a special tribunal.
